My Dino Life Skill Upgrade Priority
Spend Cash in the order that keeps the morph alive.
The Skill 3 menu looks like a talent tree from a larger game and behaves like a vending machine with three useful buttons. This page ranks those buttons. For menu navigation, use the skill tree guide. For the Cash to press them, use how to farm Cash.
Prices move. Early community sessions showed a first movement-style buy near 75 Cash and a later Speed rank near 350. Read the number in your client. Trust the order more than the digit.
S — buy these on every life
Speed / sprint / swim ranks. NPCs flee. Players chase. Orbs sit one screen away from a hunter. Movement is the only node that improves all three problems at once. After a wipe, buy Speed again before you rebuild damage. This is the entire Early Alpha meta until Primal Park ships a real stealth tool.
If you have RELEASE sitting unspent, this is what it is for. Redeem it on the codes hub and come straight here.
A — buy when you can catch something
Bite and special ranks. Once Speed exists, a combat node shortens NPC chases and makes a fair PvP trade possible. Match the node to the morph: land bite on a T. rex path, snap or tail on a Mosasaurus path. The species guide tells you which special you just inherited.
Do not buy a water combat node on a land body because the icon looked cooler.
B — buy when the farm is boring
Size / “bigger dinosaur” nodes. They feel like evolution and they are not. Evolution is XP. These are Cash cosmetics with a hitbox. Take one if you already have two Speed ranks and you want presence in Desert. Skip them if you still lose NPC races.
Second combat branches. A second damage line is how people go broke before the next evolve. One combat line is enough until Titanosaurus or Mosasaurus.
C — buy last
VIP skins and other vanity. The Skill 3 update teased them. They do not catch orbs. They do not open Shop. They do not stop a 2x Kill tourist. Buy them when you are reading this page for fun instead of for help.
Mystery locked nodes with no tooltip. Early Alpha. Leave them. If a node has no price and no requirement text, it is not a puzzle. It is unfinished UI. See Early Alpha notes.
Spend path you can memorize
- Redeem codes.
- Speed.
- NPC farm in a quiet biome.
- Speed again if the next rank is visible.
- One combat node.
- Evolve when XP is full (how to evolve).
- Repeat from step 3.
- Vanity only after you are bored of winning NPC chases.
Print that as boxes on the starter checklist if you do not want to reopen this article every wipe.
Common bad spends
- Damage first “so I can fight back.” You will not catch the fight.
- Size first “so I look like the thumbnail.” You will look like a slow thumbnail.
- Skin first “because VIP.” You will be a pretty Microraptor corpse.
- Random middle node “because it was 80 Cash and I had 90.” Save for Speed.
The dinosaur tier list decides which body you want. This page decides whether that body can move. Movement is the rank that makes every letter on the other page real.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Early Alpha sessions.
What should I upgrade first in My Dino Life?
Speed or the movement node that matches your biome. Redeem RELEASE if you cannot afford the first rank.
When do I buy damage?
After you can catch NPCs. One combat line is enough until an apex morph.
Are VIP skins worth Cash?
Not until the farm is easy. Skins do not improve orb pickup or escape.
Why did my upgrade disappear after I died?
Some ranks are morph-tied in Early Alpha. Speed is still the first repurchase.
